ALVYDAS LUKYS

Alvydas Lukys is an artist, curator and lecturer at Vilnius Art Academy. His artistic approach is closely related with concepts of remembrance and everyday culture. As a curator and lecturer his main interests are in the various aspects of cultural anthropology and photography in contemporary art. Alvydas Lukys participates in a number of group exhibitions both in Lithuania and abroad since 1978. Alvydas Lukys’ works were acquired by Lithuanian Art Museum, Union of the Lithuanian art photographers; Modern Art Center Vilnius; Brandts Museum of Photographic Art in Odense (Denmark) and a number of private hobbyists.

Alvydas Lukys was born in 1958 in Šiauliai. In 1984 he graduated from Vilnius Engineering Construction Institute (now Vilnius Gediminas Technical University). Since 1984, he is a member of Union of the Lithuanian art photographers. Alvydas Lukys working in Vilnius Academy of Arts since 1990. Started as Head of Photo Studio of Graphics Department, later he became the Head of Image Studio. He is one of the founders of Image Studio and later Photography and Video Art Department (now Photography and Media Arts Department). Currently Lukys is a Full Professor, leads the Department and is a chairman of PhD Committee of Fine Arts.
